Toys That Kill’s “The Citizen Abortion” is the debut
record from the San Pedro, California punk band,
originally released by Recess Records in 2001.
Formed out of the ashes of Todd Congelliere’s
influential F.Y.P., Toys That Kill carried forward
F.Y.P.’s irreverent, chaotic spirit while developing a
sharper, more melodic punk sound all their own.
The album mixes fast, hook-heavy punk with
Congelliere and Sean Cole’s distinctive songwriting,
giving The Citizen Abortion an energy that still feels
immediate more than two decades later.
To celebrate the album’s 25th anniversary, The
Citizen Abortion is being brought back out of
retirement as a split release from Recess Records and
Anxious & Angry. This will give new and old fans
alike the chance to fall in love all over again with one
of the bands defining albums that helped cement the band in the punk underground.
